Lisa Mallonee, MPH, RDH, RD, LD (2023)

Lisa is a tenured Professor, Graduate Program Director, and Registered Dietician in the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene at Texas A&M School of Dentistry; she is also serving as the Interim Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. As a health care professional and educator, Lisa is committed to two interconnected goals: sharing her knowledge, expertise, and passion while promoting the value of interprofessional collaboration among dental professionals within the wider health care community for greater patient/client outcomes.

Lisa is a published author on multiple topics pertaining to diet, nutrition and oral health, and practical application to whole body health for dietetic and dental professionals. She was selected as co-author of Dr. Esther Wilkins cornerstone textbook; Wilkins’ Clinical Practice of Dental Hygiene – best known in the world of dental hygiene as the “The Dental Hygiene Bible”. The 13th edition was published in 2020 and the 14th edition is scheduled for a 2023 publication date. Additionally, she will serve as primary author for the 6th edition of The Dental Hygienists’ Guide to Nutritional Care, scheduled for publication in May 2024. Lisa presents educational lectures both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Mary Martin, BSDH, DDS, M.Ed (2023)

Dr. Mary Martin started her career in dentistry as a chairside dental assistant. She then obtained her
dental hygiene degree at the University of Oklahoma in 1974 and her DDS in 1984, also at OU. Later she acquired a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. Her career has been equally divided between academics, private practice, and service to organized dentistry. Dr. Martin currently
serves as the president of the Smiles for Success Foundation – the philanthropic arm of the American Association of Women Dentists. She has a long history with both organizations, having been president of
both twice.

The mission of Smiles for Success is to provide cost-free dental care to women graduates of accredited
job readiness and placement programs or other community-based agencies, thus helping those who are helping themselves. Under Dr. Martin’s leadership, Smiles for Success now has programs in several states and a community based program in Florida.

Her service to the profession includes many years as a professor in the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Radiology at the University of Oklahoma College Of Dentistry. She is an accomplished lecturer and has been nominated for countless professional and community awards, including three years as one of the Fifty Women Making a Difference in Oklahoma.

She and her husband, Dr. Steve Carson, decided to spend time in rural Oklahoma caring for the underserved; they are now providing care to Medicaid patients via Caring Hands Healthcare Clinic in McAlester, OK.

Amber D. Riley (2022)

Ms. Riley is a 1998 graduate of Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio. She completed her Baccalaureate with Wright State University and a Master of Science with Boston University. Amber is an RDH Advisory Board Member to the Oral Cancer Foundation, a subject matter consultant serving dozens of state dental boards, and a Forensic Dental Consultant for the San Diego County Office of the Medical Examiner. Ms. Riley is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, Fellow of the International Association of Coroners & Medical Examiners, Member of the California Dental Hygienists’ Association, Member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology, and an Associate Member of the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health. Amber Riley is an internationally recognized speaker providing continuing education programs for dental and medical professionals covering oral and systemic pathologies, forensic odontology, and the use and misuse of therapeutic and illicit pharmacology

Dianne Glasscoe Watterson (2022)

Dianne has more than four decades in dentistry. Her business, Watterson Speaking/Consulting LLC, is based in Lexington, NC. Dianne has been published extensively, including authoring two monthly columns in national dental publications-one in Dental Economics called “Practice Wisdom” and the other in RDH called “Staff Rx”. In addition to serving on the editorial board of RDH magazine, Dianne is co-author of Foundations of Periodontics for the Dental Hygienist. She has published several books and received numerous awards. Dianne has been chosen every year since 2006 as a leader in Consulting/Speaking by Dentistry Today. She is a former faculty member in the dental hygiene program at Guilford Technical Community College, a member of Christian medical/dental Association of Dental Office Managers, American Academy of Dental Hygiene, and American Dental Hygienist Association. Diane and her husband, Dave, live in Lexington, NC and have 4 sons and 7 grandchildren.

Carol Jahn (2021)

Carol Jahn, RDH, MS has a BS in dental hygiene from the University of Iowa and an MS in Continuing Education from the University of St. Francis. She has been a dental hygienist since 1982. She practiced clinically in general and periodontal practices. Currently, she is the Director of Professional Relations & Education for WaterPik, Inc.

Emily Boge (2020)

Wife, mother, farmer, student, college administrator, educator, inventor, public health advocate, business woman, researcher, writer, speaker–yet always a dental hygienist—Emily has worn many hats over the course of her 18 years in the dental industry. She takes pride in utilizing her inquisitive mind and honest attitude to lead faculty at her college, influence manufacturers to listen to dental professionals in product innovation, and transform students into entry level professionals, promoting the use of inner accountability, tenacity, and empowerment.

Jo-Anne Jones (2019)

As a successful entrepreneur and international, award winning speaker, Jo-Anne brings life, energy and inspiration to all her presentations. The veteran dental hygienist turned educator has a no-nonsense approach and dynamic speaking style that has made her one of North America’s most sought-after lecturers in the dental community. Karen Davis (2018)

Karen Davis, RDH, BSDH is founder of Cutting Edge Concepts®. She is an international speaker and practices dental hygiene in Dallas, Texas. Dentistry Today consistently recognizes Karen as a “Top Clinician in Continuing Education”.She is an accomplished author related to her passion of practicing on the cutting edge of the profession and authors a column in RDH Magazine. She is a member of the American Academy of Oral & Systemic Health, the American Dental Hygienist’s Association, and the International Federation of Dental Hygienists. Karen graduated from Midwestern State University with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene.

Lil Caperila (2017)

Lil Caperila has spent well over 35 years in the profession of dental hygiene practice as a periodontal co-therapist, educator and professional lecturer internationally.

In 2000, while serving as President of the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association, Lil accepted a position as Manager of Professional Education and Corporate Trainer with Premier Dental Products Company in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Her role as an international lecturer has afforded her the opportunity to deliver well over 500 seminars throughout the United States and among her international colleagues.

Lil completed her bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene education from Thomas Jefferson University and later achieved her master’s degree in education specifically as an instructional designer and corporate trainer from Penn State University.
In 2009, Lil was selected as the first alumnus of her college to be named to their Alumni Hall of Fame. In 2014, the college selected Lil as one of their “Fabulous 50 Alumni” recognized during the college’s 50th anniversary.

She is the 2010 Recipient of the ADHA Irene Newman Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Advancement of Dental Hygiene.

In January of 2016, Lil was a contributing author for the chapter on Dentinal Hypersensitivity in a new dental hygiene textbook entitled: “Dental Hygiene: Applications to Clinical Practice.”

Carol Jahn (2016)

Carol Jahn, RDH, MS is the Director of Professional Relations & Education for Water Pik, Inc. She has presented more than 350 courses, published more than 85 papers, and contributed to 7 textbooks, including Clinical Periodontology (9th, 10th, 11th eds). She has been a presenter at 40 state/national dental hygiene association meetings, including ADHA and RDH UOR. She has presented at 20 state/regional dental meetings including Chicago Midwinter and Yankee Dental. She was a 2013 recipient of the ADHA Award of Excellence.
